4CL 1500 aerodinamica

1939

In 1939, Maserati wanted to break speed records and equipped the 4CL chassis #1565 with a so-called "streamliner" bodywork designed by Farina.

She took part in the speed record attempts in Florence on April 18, 1939 and in the Tripoli GP the same year at the hands of Luigi Villoresi.

The bodywork, particularly elaborate for the time, was inspired by the theories of the Austrian engineer Paul Jaray.

She set the lap record in Tripoli with 213 km/h.

The war interrupted the development of the 4CL and this special body.
