8CTF

1938

Maserati built many racing cars (V4, 8C, 4CTR, V5, 4Cs,…) between 1926 and 1936. The 8CTF dates from 1938 after the purchase by Adolfo Orsi, a wealthy businessman from Modena.

The 8 cyl in line of 3000 cm3 and its compressor the 365 hp of this engine placed on a sophisticated 6CM chassis, allows a max speed of… 290 km / h !!!!

It had little success in Europe, no one could compete with the Auto Union or Mercedes of this pre-war period.

It was in the hands of Wilbur Shaw that she would shine in 1939 and 1940 at the 500 miles of Indianapolis (CS07), in a burgundy dress and renamed "Boyle Special".
