Tipo 61 Coda Lunga #2451
1961
The first 22 Tipo 61, #2451, received a special "coda lunga" bodywork, at the request of Lloyd "Lucky" Casner, founder of the CAMORADI Racing Team (CAsner MOtor RAcing DIvision) to be able to compete in the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The rear of the vehicle is lengthened to improve the stability of the car at high speeds. Front lights are added, as well as a very streamlined windshield.
The rest of the vehicle is identical to the other Tipo 61: 4 cylinders, 2890 cm3, 250 hp at 6800 rpm and almost 300 km/h.
Despite several laps in the lead and the best top speed recorded that year (274 km/h), the car driven by Withney Straight retired at the 9th hour of the race due to an engine problem.
