Once again, it is Giugiaro who dresses the new "small" sports car of Maserati derived from the Bora which is too greedy; it is La Merak, in 1972, still under the Citroën era.
It takes the silhouette of the Bora, but simplifies it and creates two flying buttresses at the rear: the glass fastback of the Bora has disappeared for a flat bonnet.
Engine side, it is the V6 developed for the Citroën SM which officiates and produces 170 to 220 HP for a V max up to 250 km / h
