4CLT/48
1949
The Maserati 4CLT/48 is a single-seater competition automobile designed by Ernesto Maserati. It succeeds the pre-war 4CL, but benefits from a new lighter multi-tube structure, lots of aluminum and a new front suspension.
The square 4-cylinder 1490 cm3, twin compressor develops 260 hp at 7000 rpm. The maximum speed is 250 km/h.
In 1948, Ascari won the San Remo Grand Prix in June. The following year, it was Fangio who won on the Riviera, then in 1949 at the GPs of Roussillon, Albi, Pau and Angoulême.
