A6GCS #2043 Mille Miglia 54

1954

To succeed the Monofaro, Maserati produced the A6GCS/53 in 48 units between 1953 and 1955.
Gioacchino Colombo's 6-cylinder / 2-litre engine, alloy block (despite the G in the name), two overhead camshafts for 170 hp, bodywork by Fantuzzi, allowed this lightweight 2-seater barquette to travel at 235 km/h.

#2043 was the third A6GCS in the series. Originally owned by Luigi Musso in 1953, who drove it 23 times in races (out of 50), notably as No. 500 in the 1954 Mille Miglia with Augusto Zocca for a fine 3rd place (best Maserati result in the MM). This example is also the only one to take part in the Mille Miglia 5 times. Since 2011 it has been owned by an Italian collector who calls it his "dream car".
