A6GCS #2049 Vignale
1953
To succeed the Monofaro, Maserati produced 48 examples of the A6GCS/53 between 1953 and 1955.
The 2-liter, 6-cylinder engine by Gioacchino Colombo, an alloy block (despite the G in the name), and twin overhead camshafts producing 170 hp, allowed this lightweight, two-seater to reach a top speed of 235 km/h.
"This is chassis #2049, delivered to Tony Parravano in 1953. It raced in the 12 Hours of Pescara and the 1000 km of the Nurburgring in 1953. Then came the Coppa della Toscana in 1954, and the Mille Miglia disaster, where driver Guido Mancini crashed, killing his co-driver Silvio Dal Cin. After that, Parravano sold the wreck, which was rebuilt with a new body by Scaglietti..."
