1957
In 1954, alongside the 150S, Maserati created the 200 S which replaced the A6GCS in the Sport 2000 category.
Same mechanical configuration: 2 Weber double body, double camshaft and double ignition. Only the displacement changes, 2 liters for 190 HP at 7200 rpm.
This first 1955 version suffered from too much power on the single rear axle and the adoption of a De Dion bridge partially corrected this defect, but the 200S remained difficult to drive.
The 200 S (200 Si from 1957) accumulated 32 victories in its career, driven by Behra, Bonnier or Hall
and its engine won 14 more victories from 1958 to 1963 on JBW or Cooper.
