Tipo 151/3 24h du Mans 1964

1964

The history of the Tipo 151 is totally linked to the 24 Hours of Le Mans: Maserati raced under the banner of Briggs Cuningham and Colonel Simone (Maserati France).

None of the first three models (151/1) (V8 of the 450S / 4l / 410 Cv / 330 km / h) finished the 24h of mans 1962.

After some improvements (V8 / 5 liters / 430 HP, weight reduction and body modifications) the Tipo 151/2 did not end the 24 hours in 1963 on a broken transmission.
The Tipo 151/3 benefited from further improvements to the chassis and bodywork but was abandoned in 1964 due to electrical problems.

The Tipo 151 series ended tragically with the fatal accident of Lloyd Casner during the preparation of the 1965 edition.
