250F GP Italia 1955
1955
In 1955, Mercedes-Benz dominated Formula 1 events with its streamlined silver arrows. Maserati builds a streamlined version of the 250F to counter them.
In 1939, Maserati had already experimented with this type of bodywork on a 4CL which set the fastest qualifying time for the Tripoli GP.
Fantuzzi's work is not completely closed, allowing good ventilation of the brakes.
At the Italian GP 55 she finished 4th more than one lap behind the Mercedes, paying for too fast development no doubt.
After a second GP in Syracuse where she finished 5th, she returned to her initial form the following year.
