A6GCS Berlinetta #2057/2070
1954
At the end of 1953, Pininfarina produced a "Berlinetta" on an A6GCS/53 chassis for a special order from Guglielmo Dei, a MASERATI agent from Rome whose customers wanted to be sheltered during the races.
Only 4 examples of this magnificent car were built between the end of 1953 and 1954. Its concave grille separated from the headlights was a source of inspiration for the design of the shield of the current Granturismo.
Chassis #2057 was delivered to Pietro Palmieri just after being presented at the 1954 Turin Motor Show. At his request, the roof was lowered by 4cm and the body painted in two tones of blue.
After a race he asked it to be transformed into a Barchetta because of the noise and the heat. The body of #2057 was associated with chassis #2070 and engine #2080 for a restoration from 1994 to 1997. It now competes in concours d'elegance around the world.
