Ligier-Maserati JS2

1972

The Ligier JS2 is a sports coupe built by Ligier between 1971 and 1975. It will be equipped with several engines, including a Ford V6 2.6 L from the Capri 2600 RS (discontinued in 1970), and a Maserati V6 of 2.7l then 3l (taking over the engine and gearbox of the Citroën SM) which will evolve up to 330 hp.

This car is built on the basis of a frame-beam and a body designed by Frua. However, Guy Ligier himself insisted on making changes to the original drawing. The equipment has been drawn from the large series, in particular from Peugeot and Citroën (handles, etc.).

The JS2 was entered in competition both in rally and on the circuit, notably at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1973, 1974 and 1975.
Only one victory in 1974 in the Tour de France Automobile (Ligier JS2-Maserati no 139) with Gérard Larrousse, Jean-Pierre Nicolas and Johnny Rives.
