To celebrate the victory of Moss, Behra, Taruffi and Schell in the 1000 kms of the Nurburgring on a 300S 50 years earlier, Maserati entered a Gransport Trofeo in the 24 hours of the Nurburgring 2006.

It is painted in the same red and yellow color combination as the 300S but also that of Fangio's 250F victorious in 1957.

Laffite, Giudici, Hong and Meaden will finish in fifth place in their category, proving the reliability of this model on the ring of the Nordschleife, one of the most grueling races in the world.
